Blowing Rock Police welcomed a second new hire this week.
Bobby Canter from Deep Gap began his employment with our department on Friday.
Bobby will be riding the next few weeks with field training officer Troy Reynolds.
Bobby is married and has two children. He completed his basic law enforcement training in 2011. He has been employed with Hospitality Mints for some time.
Please make Bobby feel at home here in Blowing Rock.
Damage to property was reported at the Wilco/Hess on Feb. 25.
A store employee reported that a white male had damaged a door inside the store with a black marker.
The suspect was captured on surveillance video and the incident is currently under investigation.
Santos Julian Menchu-Garcia, 40, of Lenoir was arrested on March 2 and charged with driving while license revoked. Garcia was held at the Watauga County Jail on a $500 secured bond.
Michael Oliver Bourne, 34, of Winston-Salem was arrested March 2. Bourne was arrested following a traffic stop on Main Street.
Officer Matt Royal discovered that an outstanding warrant for failure to appear was pending from Randolph County. Bourne was released by the magistrate on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
Two traffic collisions were reported last week.
The first accident was reported on Feb. 27. The accident occurred when a 1990 Ford driven by Thomas Jefferey Hartley, 57, of Lenoir rear-ended another vehicle on Main Street.
The second vehicle, a 1995 Toyota, was driven by Cynthia Parsons Maltba, 40, of Lenoir.
No injuries were reported. Damages to both vehicles totaled $2,500.
The second accident was reported on March 1. Leigh Taylor Hamilton, 36, of Blowing Rock ran off the roadway on Goforth Road. No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.
Damage to Hamilton’s vehicle was estimated at $4,500.
Citations last week included one for consuming alcohol in a passenger vehicle and displaying a fictitious license plate.
