Letters: Candidacy announced
Almost four years ago, it was a humbling experience to earn the trust of Blowing Rock voters and be elected to represent them as a member of the town commission. My fellow commissioners have since elected me mayor pro rem, a consideration that honored and again humbled me.
In the interim, by bringing my core values of personal integrity and open-minded independent thinking to the office, I have dedicated myself to earning the confidence and trust of Blowing Rock voters and my peers on the town commission.
My goal has been and continues to be an effort to find balance for our town.
A balance between the old and the new. A balance between business and neighborhood interests. And a balance between our wants and our needs.
In the following few weeks I will be speaking directly with you — the voters and owners of Blowing Rock — about various projects occurring in the past four years, both complete and ongoing.
We will talk about our next year’s town operating budget, the emergency services department (fire and rescue), the police department, downtown streetscape, neighborhood infrastructure improvements (street paving and storm drainage issues), completion of the water line loop connecting Blowing Rock with the water resources of Boone and Appalachian State University, completion of the Robbins Swimming Pool and other issues that come to mind.
I ask for your support.
Albert Yount Blowing Rock
