Thomas S Roy Jr
Thomas S. Roy, Jr., 75, passed away on August 25, 2012. Born in Greenville, S.C., he moved with his family to the Philadelphia area and subsequently to New York City.
Roy was a graduate of Jamaica High School in Jamaica, N.Y. and the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania. Roy received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Delaware.
Roy was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry and served two and one-half years of active duty followed by several years of active reserves. Roy was particularly proud of his service as a paratrooper.
Roy had a successful executive career with Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster, Pa., during which he served as the Chairman and President of the American Compensation Association. He retired in 1994 after a 32 year career. Upon retirement, Roy and his wife Marian moved to Naples, Fla., and in 1998 to Bonita Springs. In 1992 they built a new home in Blowing Rock, and enjoyed the summer and fall there for 19 years. He was an active tennis player and flying enthusiast, having owned an airplane for many years. In his retirement, he traveled extensively and studied Spanish at language schools in Latin America.
A devoted husband, Roy is survived by his wife, Marian. A beloved father, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah and her husband, Wyatt Crumpler, and their daughters, Erin and Nicole Crumpler of Coppell, Texas; and his son, Douglas and his wife, Stephanie; and their sons, Max and Liam Roy of Lancaster, Pa.
Mr. Roy will be privately interred by his family at the Naples Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.We apologize, comments cannot be made on this particular topic.
