Harold R. Richardson

Harold R. Richardson passed away August 12,2013, at his home in Southminster Retirement Community in Charlotte. Memorial services were held Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Hal lived most of his life in Charlotte and sold his business after 30 years of ownership. He was active in the National Retail Hardware Association, and served as President of the Hardware Association of the Carolinas.

Hal spent his retirement years with his wife, Martha, at their summer home in Blowing Rock. He was most passionate about his love of golf, where as a member of the Blowing Rock Country Club. He enjoyed serving on several committees to help improve many aspects of the golf course.

Hal was a long-time devoted member of Myers Park Baptist Church in Charlotte, and Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock.

He married Martha Blythe in October 1942, who preceded him in death in April 1998. Hal is survived by four children, Harold Ray (Rick) Richardson Jr. of Charlotte, David Blythe Richardson of Greenville, S.C., Francis Richardson Butler of Longview, Texas, and Jane Richardson Wurst of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
