Charles 'Tom' Davis III

Charles Thomas "Tom" Davis III, 73, of Wonderland Trail, Blowing Rock, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Watauga Medical Center.

Born July 25, 1939, in Marion, Ala., he was a son of Charles Thomas Davis Jr. and Ruby Coplin Davis. Dr. Davis retired as a Professor of Religion at Appalachian State University, serving for 38 years. He received his education at the Marion Military Institute in Marion, Ala., the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, Ala., Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., and the University of Heidelberg, Germany. His accomplishments included writing and publishing in many professional academic journals.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Holland Davis; son, Eric Davis and wife, Maki, and grandchildren, Emily and Karen Davis, all of Hong Kong; and his sister, Diane Maddox and husband, Bobby, of Tuscaloosa.

Services will be private.
