Mrs. Catherine Northern Day, 79, of 3100 Deerfield Road, Boone, died Monday, November 28, 2011, at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Day was born September 14, 1932, in Jefferson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Austin and Irene Bond Northern. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse for Dr. Charles Davant II and Dr. Len Hagaman. Mrs. Day was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Day is survived by her husband, Coleman Day, of the home; two sisters, Frances Northern of Boone, and Barbara Ann Northern Clawson and husband J.D. of Hudson; and two brothers, Fred R. Northern and wife, Rose, of Eustis, Florida, and Vance A. Northern of Pinellas Park, Florida. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Northern Day will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Raymond Spann. Burial will follow in the Critcher Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
