Betty McKinney Boston

Mrs. Betty McKinney Boston, 77, of Bessemer City, died on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson.

Mrs. Boston was born on March 1, 1936, in Mitchell County, to Grady and Emma Young McKinney. Mrs. Boston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Willis Boston; brother, Collins McKinney and sister, Sue Howell. Mrs. Boston retired as a registered nurse in Catawba County after 52 years of service.

Graveside services were held 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the Burnette Cemetery in Little Switzerland. Pallbearers included, Larry Boone, Chad Dellinger, Roberto Fernandez, Chip Perry, Tim Rector and Grady Herman.

Mrs. Boston is survived by one daughter, Monica Boston Perry and husband, Chip, of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Edna Herman and husband, Earl, of Bessemer City; sister in-law, Mildred McKinney; brother in-law, Joe Howell; nieces and nephews, Melody Rector and husband, Dr. Tim, Grady Herman and wife, Phyllis, Selinda Boone and husband, Larry, Ciji Dellinger and husband, Chad, Heather Fernandez and husband, Roberto.

Memorials contributions in memory of Mrs. Boston may be made to Hospice or The Humane Society.
