WHS Firefighter Students Train in Blowing Rock

Members of the Watauga High School Firefighter Program were in Blowing Rock Tuesday to train for their upcoming certification on ladder skills. Under the direction of Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue personnel Ryan Kissel, Matt McGuire and Kent Graham, the students learned how to properly climb and descend the 78-foot extension ladder on the back of a fire engine.
Seen in the photos are WHS senior Cody Rominger at top of the ladder with instructor McGuire. The group shot includes, from left, Cody Rominger, Cody Hodges, Gavin Gonzalez, Ashley Harris and Logan Fox in front of the engine, with Ryan Kissel and Matt McGuire on top. Not pictured are instructors Mark Parlier and Kent Brown of the Boone Fire Department and Kent Graham of Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue. Photos by Jeff Eason
