Snow Special
More than 100 athletes competed at Appalachian Ski Mountain in the annual Special Olympics North Carolina’s Winter Games event. Skiers and snowboarders from North Carolina and South Carolina competed in slalom and speed events at Appalachian during Sunday afternoon, then enjoyed opening ceremonies, dinner and a dance at Meadowbrook Inn that evening. Roachel Laney, a local Special Olympics coordinator and volunteer, was honored at the dinner for his decades of work with the organization.
