Operation Christmas Child: The book

It would take a book to tell the story behind the worldwide ministry of the Boone-based Operation Christmas Child, and a book is what OCC founder Franklin Graham and colleague Donna Lee Toney have recently published - in time for the holidays and the ministry’s most productive time of the year.

“Operation Christmas Child: A Story of Simple Gifts” details how a simple idea to minister to children who are victims of war and famine grew, during two decades, to reach 100 million shoebox gifts delivered to 130 countries.

Intermingled with that story are the stories of lives reached and changed by the gift of a shoe-box filled with basic necessities, small gifts and the message of Christianity.

Throughout the book are sections of full-color pictures of children to whom the ministry has delivered gifts via truck, yak, boat and myriad other modes of transportation.

Proceeds from “Operation Christmas Child” ($24.99 hardcover, but discounted through many major booksellers) go to support the ministry. The book is available also in electronic format for major e-reader platforms. A video presentation about the book can be viewed at
