Krispy Kreme CEO to speak on July 17

The Men’s Connection, a nondenominational Bible study group in Blowing Rock, will host its annual Guest Speaker Morning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17.

The event will take place at the Evergreen Room at Chetola Resort and feature a free continental breakfast.

Wives and friends of members are invited to attend the special event.

This year’s featured speaker is James H. Morgan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc.

Morgan was named president and CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. in January 2008. He has been a member of the Krispy Kreme board of directors since 2000 and was elected its chairman in 2005.

Morgan served as chairman and CEO of Wachovia Securities following the acquisition of Interstate/Johnson Lane Inc.

Morgan is a past member of the Securities Industry Association Board of Directors and the New York Stock Exchange regional firms committee, and is currently on the board of directors of Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated.

Morgan has more than 35 years of business experience and is a 1969 graduate of Vanderbilt University. He also served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.

Morgan maintains a lifelong commitment to youth and education through his involvement with numerous charitable organizations. As an active member of Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, he teaches a young couples class and has been a Sunday school teacher for the past 37 years.

He and his wife, Peggy, reside in Winston-Salem. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Through the Men’s Connection’s Guest Speaker Morning, during the past four years, hundreds of people have heard some of the nation’s top speakers, and this year is no exception, a spokesman for the group said.
