Gov. McCrory visits Blowing Rock

By Jeff Eason

Gov. Pat McCrory spent a busy day meeting with members of the public and with members of the Oasis Shriners organization on Saturday, May 31 in Blowing Rock.
The day started with McCrory giving the keynote address at a spacial program honoring the North Carolina patients and parents of Shriners hospitals for children. The program was held in the Blowing Rock School auditorium.
Around noon, McCrory attended the annual meeting and picnic of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol at Tweetsie Railroad. Approximately 800 state troopers and their families were the guests of Tweetsie owners and operators Chris and Cathy Robbins.
During the meeting, McCrory handed out NCSHP scholarships to children of state troopers attending college.
McRory then served as grand marshal for the Oasis Shriners' Summer Ceremonial parade in downtown Blowing Rock.
It marked the first time McCrory has visited Blowing Rock since he was running for governor in the summer of 2012.
