Gallery turning 20

Frank Ruggiero

Twenty years is a milestone fit for framing.

Blowing Rock Frameworks and Gallery turns 20 this month, and gallery owner Tim Miller is putting the finishing touches on his gallery’s landmark celebration.

For two decades, the gallery has provided clients with custom framing and original artwork.

“In our 20 years, we have framed over 29,000 pieces of art,” Miller said. “We have also sold the finest art in the High Country.”

Miller said his customers hail from every state and six countries and have not only bought paintings from Blowing Rock Frameworks, but from other High Country galleries, as well.

“Over time, many of these paintings are no longer wanted,” Miller said.

To help them find a permanent home, while celebrating Blowing Rock Frameworks’ 20th anniversary, Miller will sell these customer surplus paintings on from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.

“These paintings do not belong to us, and as a courtesy to our customers, they will be sold far below wholesale prices,” Miller said. “For example, some paintings purchased for $3,000 will be sold for $500.”

Only cash and check will be accepted during the sale, and most paintings will be discounted 75 percent off retail price. The works come from a vast lineup of talent, including Philip Moose, Raymond Chorneau, Warren Dennis, Norma Murphy, Joe Miller, Nancy Brittelle, Noyes Capehart, Tom VanNortwick, Robert Broderson, Wiili Armstrong, Kevin Beck, Lita Gatlin, Arlee Mains and Jim Chapman.

The surplus also includes antique botanicals and etchings, Miller added.

To keep the celebration going, Miller will give away five complete frames each Saturday in May on a first-come, first-served basis.

Blowing Rock Frameworks and Gallery is located at 7539 Valley Blvd., in the Food Lion shopping center.
