Blowing Rock's pool opens for 2014 season

Blowing Rock’s Grover Robbins Swimming Complex opened its doors for the 2014 season on Saturday, May 24th. Despite spring-like temperatures, several dozen swimmers and sunbathers came out to enjoy the pool during its first open weekend of the year.

This year, pool hours are 9 a.m. through 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7:30 on Saturday, and from noon to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Swimming lessons are available at the pool from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The pool will be open every day from now until Labor Day Monday, September 1st.

Pool Fees

For Blowing Rock taxpayers and their families, day passes to the pool are $3 for children under 12, $4 for youth and adults ages 12 to 54, $3 for adults 55 and older, and a $2 fee for non-swimmers.

For non-Blowing Rock taxpayers, add a dollar to the above fees, except non-swimmers are still $2.

One month passes for Blowing Rock taxpayers are $50 for an individual, $70 for a family of four, $90 for a family of five, $100 for a family of six, $110 for a family of seven, and $120 for a family of eight.

One month passes for non-Blowing Rock taxpayers are $55 for an individual, $75 for a family of four, $95 for a family of five, $105 for a family of six, $115 for a family of seven, and $125 for a family of eight.

Season passes for Blowing Rock taxpayers are $70 for an individual, $90 for a family of four, $110 for a family of five, $120 for a family of six, $130 for a family of seven, and $140 for a family of eight.

Season passes for non-Blowing Rock taxpayers are $75 for an individual, $95 for a family of four, $115 for a family of five, $125 for a family of six, $135 for a family of seven, and $145 for a family of eight.

Swimming lessons are $35 for taxpayers and $55 for non-taxpayers. Shower only visits are $2.

Lockers are available for $2 a day or $30 a season.

The pool staff has the authority to close the pool if the water temperature is too low, there is a threat of lightning in the area, or for any reason that may threaten the health or safety of the public.
