BRAHM receives Philip Moose artwork
“High Country Landscapes: Philip Moose” opened on March 4 in the Community Meeting Room at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum and will be on display through April.
Known primarily for his North Carolina mountain landscapes and paintings from his travels throughout the world, Philip Moose was a very private man who lived near Blowing Rock, North Carolina for over three decades.
In 1948 he received the Pulitzer Prize for art and throughout his life was awarded dozens of awards for his teaching art and paintings.
Known mainly for his realistic paintings, Moose also painted abstracts and collages as well.
Collected throughout the United States and many other countries, Moose painted passionately until he became ill during the last years of his life. This collection of art highlights a bequest to BRAHM from Dan and Jane Wolfe of Charlotte, who summered for many years in Blowing Rock. BRAHM is grateful for their contributions to the Museum and the community. Photo submitted
